What to expect at the Royal Nutcracker Banquet

After a VIP welcome with Prosecco, you’ll feel like Clara entering the fairytale palace as you make your way into the ballroom. You’ll find sparkling decor and festive lights, Christmas trees and Nutcracker soldiers everywhere you look.

Then it’s time for a mouthwatering 3-course banquet, unlimited drinks and unforgettable entertainment — live Nutcracker ballet performances accompanied by top-class classical musicians.

While some Christmas parties fizzle out after dinner, ours are only just beginning. A live party band takes to the stage, and it’s your turn to dance as the music switches from Tchaikovsky to some of the hottest tunes on the planet.

If you can stop dancing, try your luck at the casino tables, or get your face bling on at the glitter bar.

Your Nutcracker Banquet venue is the Leonardo Royal London City — a luxurious 4-star hotel in the heart of the city. Public transport links are excellent because Tower Gateway and Fenchurch Street are all within easy reach.

Or why not take it easy and book an overnight stay. The hotel has 317 spacious bedrooms, a swimming pool, spa and gym.

The dress code

There isn’t one. Having said that, the event is the best possible excuse to dress up. Often guests wear ball gowns and ‘black tie’ attire, but is not compulsory. We’re relaxed about it.

For men, the full ‘black tie’ look is a tuxedo, dress shirt, black bow tie and shiny patent leather shoes. But if that’s not your style, don’t worry.  A normal suit will be absolutely fine.

For women, this is a rare and special opportunity to wear a formal gown — although, again, you don’t have to. If a full-length, floor-swishing number isn’t your thing, opt for the refined sophistication of a knee-length cocktail dress.

About the event

Is this a shared event?

Yes, this is a shared party. The main party room is where dinner is served, and also where all the live music takes place during and after dinner. You won’t be asked to share a table with other groups, you’ll only be seated with your group.

Will we have our own table?

Yes, no matter the size of your guest list you’ll have your own tables. You won’t have to share the table with anyone outside your party group.

Are drinks included in the price?

Yes.

Your All-Inclusive Standard ticket includes unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks.

For £31 +VAT per person, you can upgrade to All-Inclusive Plus.  This gives you unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks — plus 6 single spirits (with or without mixers), or glasses of Prosecco.

With all options, all-inclusive drinks are served from 8pm until 12.30am.

Is there a dress code? 

No. We don’t impose a strict dress code, although a number of guests will opt to wear evening gowns or ‘black tie’ attire as a great excuse to dress up and look your best. We won’t turn anybody away, so please wear what you find most comfortable for an evening like this, we just want you to have a great time.

The menu

Will the hotel cater for different dietary requirements? 

Yes they will. Once you’ve booked, we’ll send you a function sheet. Use this to let us know the names and dietary requirements of any guests. We’ll inform the chef so that each person is catered for appropriately.

The only exception to this is Kosher food. This cannot be prepared at the hotel, it comes via a separate caterer and incurs an additional charge. Call us on 020 7183 3821 and we’ll talk you through it.

Booking and admin

How much is the deposit? And when is it due?

To secure your booking, we’ll need a deposit of £55 + VAT per guest at the time of booking. The balance will be due 6 weeks (42 days) before the event.

Can I add additional guests later?

We’ll be as flexible as possible. Please let us know about any changes before 1st November and we’ll do our best to accommodate them. Provided there is availability, we can add to your booking — although please bear in mind, we can’t guarantee this.

If you want to add guests, contact us on 020 7183 3821 or email [email protected]. We’ll let you straight away if there’s availability. If there’s enough space for additional guests, full payment will be required in order to secure the booking.

What’s the minimum and maximum number of guests I can book for?

The minimum is 8 people. The maximum number for this venue is 272.

Is there parking near the venue?

There are some on-street metre parking available outside the hotel. The nearest car park is Tower Hill Car Park, 50 Lower Thames Street.

What about public transport links?

You’re within easy reach of Tower Hill and Aldgate tube stations.

Tower Gateway DLR and Fenchurch Street  Station are also just a short walk away.

Can I stay at the hotel?
