The Great Gatsby Christmas Party in Edinburgh takes you to the decadent, elegant world of the jazz age.

Dress up, grab the feather boa and let your hair down. It’s time to party like it’s 1922!

Expect flapper girls, Charleston dance moves, a 3-course dinner, welcome drink, half bottle wine with dinner, feather boas, red-hot rhythms, casino tables, photo booth, glitter face painters… and feathers. Did we mention feathers?

What to expect at the Great Gatsby party in Edinburgh

Your evening begins with a VIP red carpet welcome. Our fully-costumed flapper girls are waiting to greet you with a glass of Prosecco.

The ballroom doors open to a beautifully decorated Gatsby-themed event space.

Over a delicious 3-course dinner, our live singer is on stage to entertain you. They’re modern classics… but with a 1920s twist. Name that tune anyone?

The drinks are flowing, dinner has been enjoyed… and the entertainment has only just begun.

Our live party band takes to the stage, raising the tempo to dancing point with the best tunes from across the decades.

If you can resist the urge to shake your tail feather, visit the glitter bar for some sparkly facial artistry, or try your luck at the casino tables where professional croupiers are handing out just-for-fun casino chips.

And, don’t forget the photo booth. You can visit as many times as you like, dress up in our props and make some memories.

The dress code

There’s no dress code because we want you to relax and have a good time. However, this is a Great Gatsby party! What better excuse is there to dress up?
If you’re stuck for ideas, here are a few Gatsby-inspired suggestions:

For men:

Black tie is a good option, especially with a pocket square (folded handkerchief). Alternatively, a dark jacket with cream-coloured smart trousers and a straw boater. And how about a side parting?

For women:

We’re talking glamour and elegance. Fringed, beaded and sequined flapper dresses, long black gloves, jewelled and feathered headbands, long strings of pearls… and, of course, a feather boa.

About the event

Is this a shared event?

Yes, the main party room is shared. It’s where the 3-course dinner is served, and all the live music and entertainment happens.

Will we have our own table?

Yes, no matter the size of your guest list, you’ll have your own tables. You won’t have to share the table with anyone outside your party group.

Are any drinks included in the price?

Yes. The ticket price includes a glass of prosecco on arrival and half a bottle of wine per person with dinner.

Is there a dress code? 

There is no dress code. However, a Great Gatsby party is a great excuse to dress up.

For men, black tie is always a good option. For extra authenticity, you can always try a side parting. It’s very 1920s.

For women — fringed, beaded and sequined flapper dresses, long black gloves, jewelled and feathered headbands, long strings of pearls… and don’t forget the feather boa.

The menu

Will the hotel cater for different dietary requirements? 

Yes they will. Once you’ve booked, we’ll send you a function sheet. Use this to let us know the names and dietary requirements of any guests. We’ll inform the chef so each person is catered for appropriately.

The only exception to this is Kosher food. It can’t be prepared at the hotel and comes via a separate caterer, so it incurs an additional cost. Call us on 020 7183 3821 and we’ll talk you through it.

Booking and admin

How much is the deposit? And when is it due?

To secure your booking, we’ll need a deposit of £45 + VAT per guest at the time of booking. The balance will be due 6 weeks (42 days) before the event.

Can I add additional guests later?

We’ll be as flexible as possible. Please let us know about any changes before 1st November and we’ll do our best to accommodate them. Provided there is availability, we’ll add to your booking —although please bear in mind, we cannot guarantee this.

What’s the minimum and maximum number of guests I can book for?

The minimum is 8 people. The maximum number for this venue is 300.

The Venue

Is there parking near the venue?

There are 2 car parks just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Castle Terrace is the larger car park, a 5-minute walk away. Grindlay Street Court is a small car park (16 spaces) and is 3 minutes away.

What about public transport?

Haymarket and Edinburgh Waverley Stations are close by, as are Edinburgh bus station and the West End subway stops.

Is there disabled access?

All our hotels have disabled access.

Is there a cloakroom? Will I be able to leave my suitcase there?

Yes, the cloakrooms at all our party locations are free. If you have larger luggage items, there’s a free concierge service. Leave your luggage with them and they’ll look after it securely while you’re at the event.

Can I stay at the hotel?

Yes, although you will need to arrange the booking. Unfortunately, we’re unable to do this for you. We’ve provided a link to the hotel website below.
