The Great Gatsby Christmas Party in Cardiff transports you to the decadent, elegant world of the jazz age. Dress up, dust off the feather boa and let your hair down.
Expect flapper girls, Charleston dance moves, a 3-course dinner, unlimited drinks, red-hot rhythms, casino tables… and feathers. Did we mention feathers?
There’s no need for a Rolls Royce Phantom. The Great Gatsby party is in a prime city-centre location, The Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel, with great transport links.
What to expect at the Great Gatsby party in Cardiff
Our fully-costumed flapper girls are waiting to greet you with a glass of Prosecco as you make a grand entrance on the VIP red carpet.
While the bar starts serving all-inclusive drinks, the ballroom doors open to a gorgeously decorated event space complete with chandeliers, candlelight and art deco motifs.
Over a delicious 3-course dinner, our live singer is on stage to entertain you. They’re modern classics… but with a 1920s twist. Name that tune anyone?
Between courses, the flapper girls show off their best Charleston dance moves. Here’s the full Gatsby girl (and boy) line-up performing on stage in London.

Great Gatsby Christmas Party Cardiff Venue
The Great Gatsby party in Cardiff takes place at The Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel, a 4-star luxury hotel in a prime city-centre location.
It’s easy to get there and back. Queen Street Rail Station is a 10-minute walk away.
It’s a great place for a party — chandeliers, glass panelling and dragon motifs adorn the event space. For a pre-party cocktail, we recommend the recently refurbished lounge bar.
If you fancy an overnight stay, the hotel has 172 comfortable bedrooms plus a leisure suite with jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, aerobics and fitness studio.

You’ll be welcomed with a glass of Prosecco, then all-inclusive drinks are served from 8pm until 12.30pm.
The dress code
There’s no dress code because we want you to relax and have a good time. However, this is a Great Gatsby party! What better excuse is there to dress up?
If you’re stuck for ideas, here are a few Gatsby-inspired suggestions:
For men:
Black tie is a good option, especially with a pocket square (folded handkerchief). Alternatively, a dark jacket with cream-coloured smart trousers and a straw boater. And how about a side parting?
For women:
We’re talking glamour and elegance. Fringed, beaded and sequined flapper dresses, long black gloves, jewelled and feathered headbands, long strings of pearls… and, of course, a feather boa.

About the event
Is this a shared event?
Yes, the main party room is shared. It’s where the 3-course dinner is served, and all the live music and entertainment happens.
Will we have our own table?
Yes, no matter the size of your guest list, you’ll have your own tables. You won’t have to share the table with anyone outside your party group.
Are drinks included in the price?
Yes. Unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks are included in your ticket price. They’re served from 8pm until 12.30am.
For an additional £25 you can upgrade to a premium ticket — 5 tokens, each redeemable for a glass of Prosecco or single spirits, with or without mixers.
Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code. However, a Great Gatsby party is a great excuse to dress up.
For men, black tie is always a good option. For extra authenticity, you can always try a side parting. It’s very 1920s.
For women — fringed, beaded and sequined flapper dresses, long black gloves, jewelled and feathered headbands, long strings of pearls… and don’t forget the feather boa.
The menu
Will the hotel cater for different dietary requirements?
Yes they will. Once you’ve booked, we’ll send you a function sheet. Use this to let us know the names and dietary requirements of any guests. We’ll inform the chef so each person is catered for appropriately.
The only exception to this is Kosher food. It can’t be prepared at the hotel and comes via a separate caterer, so it incurs an additional cost. Call us on 020 7183 3821 and we’ll talk you through it.
Booking and admin
How much is the deposit? And when is it due?
To secure your booking, we’ll need a deposit of £45 + VAT per guest at the time of booking. The balance will be due 6 weeks (42 days) before the event.
Can I add additional guests later?
We’ll be as flexible as possible. Please let us know about any changes before 1st November and we’ll do our best to accommodate them. Provided there is availability, we’ll add to your booking —although please bear in mind, we cannot guarantee this.

What’s the minimum and maximum number of guests I can book for?
The minimum is 8 people. The maximum number for this venue is 450.

Is there parking near the venue?
There’s an NCP car park 6 minutes away — NCP Cardiff Knox Road.

What about public transport?
Cardiff Queen Street Station is a 10-minute walk from the hotel.
Is there disabled access?
All our hotels have disabled access.
Is there a cloakroom? Will I be able to leave my suitcase there?
Yes, the cloakrooms at all our party locations are free. If you have larger luggage items, there’s a free concierge service. Leave your luggage with them and they’ll look after it securely while you’re at the event.
