It’s a black tie Christmas ball. What should I wear?

These black tie parties are a fabulous excuse to dig out your best party outfit. After all, this is a rare and special opportunity to dress up. 

Having said that, there’s no compulsory dress code — and certainly no bouncers on the door turning you away for wearing the wrong kind of shoes. `Black tie’ is just a guide. We’re relaxed about it.

For men, if you want to go full `black tie’, wear a tuxedo, white dress shirt, shiny patent leather shoes and a black bow tie. Otherwise, don’t worry. Your office suit will do just fine. Or you can ditch the trousers altogether. Some of our male guests wear kilts (just saying).

For women, this is the perfect opportunity to dust off that floor-swishing ball gown which has been hanging around in the wardrobe for ages. Or if that isn’t your style, a simple and elegant cocktail dress is a great option.

We choose our venues carefully. These 4-star or 5-star hotels have beautiful event spaces which are perfect for dining and drinking, live music and dancing.

The great thing about a hotel venue? If you fancy an overnight stay, you can just book into one of the spacious, comfortable rooms.
